Because in the stories wolfbane, too, had the Sight. It was once his proudest power."
"Is the child the Man Varg then?" growled Bran.
"I believe it is a wolf that shall become the Man Varg," answered Brassa, "with the help of a human child."
"So that's the work Morgra talked of," whispered Khaz disgustedly. "Stealing humans. Whatever else that cub killer's done, she's broken the oldest law."
"Then Morgra is trying to fulfill this legend," growled Palla. "That's why she needs the child."

-- The Sight, by David Clement-Davies

:D I know. I totally hate this book, actually. The amount of Mary-Sue/Gary-Stu characters, complete BS in regard to wolf behavior, and, apparently, anatomy... it's ridiculous. I'd like David to call me when he finds a wolf that sweats. I'm not going into this again - there's already a rant earlier in my journal about it.

Also, LJ's Rich Text Editor seems to automatically fill in an obscene amount of extra mark-up, for those who might understand what that means.

Also-also! I need to give up Yahoo!Japan Auctions before I run out of Xmas spending money. The stuff there is just too tempting, not to mention there's a terrible exchange rate right now. Bleh, you stupid dollar.
I've currently got Theresa's birthday presents finally on the way, several collectable items that were only available through Japanese promotional events, and asdlfkjasdf :F Plush. I don't think I'll ever grow out of them. There's also several things that I'm acting as a middleman to buy, but those don't entirely count, IMO.

I want some time to read D: However, it seems as if school, work, silly computer games, and the cold/flu are all working against me. There's several nice, big, juicy historical fictions just waiting for me to devour them. I also want to read the Twilight series again, which means I'll be doing it tomorrow, since I want to read it before I see the movie. Yes, I'll admit to being a Twilight-tweeker, but if you couldn't already guess I like vampire novels, you seriously need to think back to my high school wardrobe. Oh, in terms of Twilight book, I'm Team Cullen. For movie? Completely Team Jacob, on the simple, shallow grounds that I can't stand Edward's live-animal-in-a-light-socket hair.

As a side note - damn, my goth clothes are still expensive. My new dress was totally worth it, though. Purple with black lace over it~

I find myself unable to vote for Obama. His stand on abortion is just completely against my values >:/ I don't see how he can justify allowing someone to essentially kill a baby to a) save themselves, b) avoid taking responsibility for their actions, c) avoid an unpleasant memory (in the case of rape victims). All those reasons are extremely selfish, and the amount of women who are negatively affected by post-abortion syndrome two years past the event is astounding. Studies can't even estimate how many, because most women affected by PAS are the ones who can't bring themselves to participate in the study. 60% of women experience emotional distress after abortions, with 16% of these needing psychiatric attention. 70% of women who go through with abortions say they would never consider it again when faced with an unwanted pregnancy.
All of that's psychological damage, so to throw in something that affects women negatively in a physical way too: 17% of women experience problems such as bleeding and pelvic infections after getting abortions - much more frequently than abortion providers would like to admit. (In fact, clini providers rarely inform women of the chances for physical complications)

Plus, if that's not enough, if you're even remotely Christian (Catholics were first, but whatever) you should be against abortion from a purely religious standpoint. GOD SAYS NO >:(

ARGH. Anywho, their statements:

Q: At what point does a human being gain human rights?
McCain: At the moment of conception.
Obama: Whether you're looking at it from a theological perspective or a scientific perspective, answering that question with specificity is above my pay grade...

FAIL.

Obama could have made a much better statement and won me over, but he still supports partial-term abortions (he might want to limit them, but that doesn't STOP them). McCain's statement is easy to support, but isn't really thought through very well - his statement would make his position on stem-cell research very awkward, after all.

(I'm against embrionic stem-cell research. you can take the damn stem cells from umbilical cords instead of killing babies, thank you very much.)

...
There may or may not be a floon plushie on my DS.

Last but not least, got some Japanese cards: Eevee, espeon, & Umbreon. English cards that I recently obtained include: Vaporeon, Jolteon, Flareon, Wynaut, Togepi, Mime Jr., and a super-sexy Dratini. Oh, and some of the last plushies from PokemonCenter.com, Pokedolls of the Eeveelutions minus Espeon, as well as a Mantyke, Wailord, Munchlax, and for my sister a Snorlaz and Bonsly.

In game, I'm working on Pokedex while blahhh-ing over actually finishing my plot stuff. Currently raping Pearl for starters, then I'll continue the abuse for the legendaries. After that, my attentions will turn to Leaf Green and Fire Red to get more starters 7 legendaries, and then I guess I'll finally have to go and get a copy of Emerald (because I MUST HAVE A TEDDIURSA).

URGH. Forgot to put a cut in my last post :S Fixed now.

Trying to decipher what precisely I need to have, in terms of hardware requirements, is making my brain hurt. Then trying to decipher the installation instructions is another mystery to me, since I've never really used the command line interface.
